TOKYO, JAPAN — [July 9th, 2021] — Gonzo (Headquarters: Suginami-ku, Tokyo, President: Shinichiro Ishikawa, hereafter Gonzo) announces that its new project “SAMURAI cryptos” has exploded onto the new world scene of the blockchain / NFT era.
“The concept of NFT opens a new era of anime,” says producer Shinichiro Ishikawa.

Shin Ishikawa offered only these three keywords, asking creators who shared his vision, to create original samurai characters from ground zero. Shin Ishikawa had only one request: let’s create a new animation for the NFT era with Japanese samurai! “The story will unfold organically” he says. “I want to reach out to the passion of people who resonate with the soul of ‘SAMURAI cryptos’, and together we ascend the concept into the next dimension.” “Just wait and see how we launch. I’m excited with this unprecedented challenge! ” says Ishikawa.
To kickstart the adventure, three creators will announce their designs. Makoto Kobayashi (LASTEXILE, Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ), Michinori Chiba (Basilisk, SK8 the Infinity), and Hiroya Iijima (Afro Samurai, Mazinger Z / INFINITY the Movie). Ishikawa applauded the designs: “The passion by Mr. Kobayashi, Mr. Chiba, and Mr. Iijima has manifested masterpieces for the project!” “My personal mission was to meet the best creators, embracing the best aspects of design for the overall project, and as destiny would have it, this is exactly what happened.”
Gonzo is looking forward to announcing the next group of character designers they have lined up.

株式会社ゴンゾ(本社:東京都杉並区、代表取締役社長:石川真一郎、以下ゴンゾ)は、ブロックチェーン・NFT時代に日本発のサムライとして狼煙をあげる新プロジェクト「SAMURAI cryptos」を立ち上げたことをお知らせいたします。

「NFTの概念によって、アニメの新しい時代が幕を開ける」と、プロデューサーを務める石川真一郎は言う。

・Cypher(“暗号”、ヒンドゥー語で “0”を意味する)
・Decentral(“分散”、“非中央集権”を意味する)
・Solidarity(“団結”、“結束”を意味する)

石川は、この三つのキーワードのみを引っさげて、共感したクリエイターたちに自由な発想で生み出すオリジナルサムライキャラクターたちを依頼した。
石川のリクエストはただ一つ、NFT時代の新しいアニメを日本の侍たちで作っていこう！
ストーリーは後からついてくる。キャラクターたちを世の中に問い、共感した世界中の人たちからのインプットを受けた上で、それを飲み込んで昇華させ、物語を紡ぎ出していく、というのが、SAMURAI cryptosの基本理念だ。

「どのように世に問うていくかでも、今までとは違うやり方にチャレンジする」と石川は語る。

その第1弾として、三人のクリエイターたちが作品を発表する。「ラストエグザイル」「機動戦士ガンダムZZ」の小林誠、「バジリスク〜甲賀忍法帖〜」「SK∞ エスケーエイト」の千葉道徳、「アフロサムライ」「劇場版 マジンガーZ / INFINITY」の飯島弘也。

石川はどの作品も「小林さん、千葉さん、飯島さんの勢いがそのまま現れている、まさにプロジェクトをスタートする上で、相応しい傑作揃い！」と絶賛している。

キャラクターデザインのみにとどまらず、プロジェクトに関わる様々なデザインも、石川自身が惚れ込んだデザイナー達に自ら依頼。最初に上がってきた成果物はまさにイメージ通りの出来映えとのこと。

次に控えるクリエーターたちも、凄い面々が連なっているということで、その発表も待ち遠しい。
